Achieving a food grade outcome for recycled plastics
co-cre8 has built a solid reputation in food grade rPET and rHDPE reprocessing. We are fully conversant with the stringent legislative processes required to achieve, and maintain, food-grade approval for the use of recycled material in food and beverage packaging.
However, even when all technical parameters have been met, securing the necessary investment is often limited by the inability to identify sources of compliant feedstock, at the required quality and quantity needed, to ensure that operations are viable.
Demand for food-grade recycled polymers has escalated following the UK Government’s announcement to introduce a world-leading new tax on the production and import of plastic packaging with less than 30% recycled content. However, the UK’s capability to produce food-grade polymers – particularly rPP – at the pace required to mitigate these financial penalties has not.
Whether you are seeking support on the process to achieve food grade certification, require feedstock to build the investment case for your own facility, or if you are interested in collaborating on our own ‘in-house’ initiative, to build the first commercial scale food grade recycled PP facility in the UK, then please call us on 03330 165 088
